Launched in 2019, the Public Interest Technology University Network is a partnership that unites colleges and universities committed to building the nascent field of public interest technology and growing a new generation of civic-minded technologists. Through the development of curricula, research agendas, and experiential learning programs in the public interest technology space, these institutions aim to develop graduates with skills and knowledge at the intersection of technology and policy.

Quick Reflections on Your PIT Career Fair.

Because PIT is a relatively new field in academia and industry, career pathways and job opportunities are not nearly as well-established as the technical fields that contribute to PIT, such as software, engineering, cybersecurity, advanced manufacturing, or data science.  We hope that your PIT Career Fair cultivated real-life work opportunities outside of the classroom for aspiring technologists interested in PIT and offered employers the chance to experience the value of having PIT-trained technologists on their teams, strengthening supply and demand for the emerging PIT workforce.

Additionally, Career Fairs connect students with workforce opportunities in their communities by providing students with direct interaction with businesses, non-profits, and/or the government sector to understand opportunities that align with their interests.

We would like a quick after-the-event reflection on your Career Fair.

This form will only be used to send specific information to the New Venture Fund regarding a particular grant, sponsorship, or SOWs .  Please do not use this form unless Brenda Perea, Senior Program Manager, PIT-UN, specifically requested to do so.

Honorariums or Stipends

There are times that PITUN will process honorariums for specific events, and this is the formal process PITUN must utilize to process honorariums through our fiscal agent, New Venture Fund. Specific forms are required to process an honorarium and are listed below:

NVF requires an account verification in addition to the EFT form, so you must submit a copy of a voided check, a redacted bank statement verifying the account information, or a bank authorization on bank letterhead.

Travel Reimbursement and New Venture Fund Travel Reimbursement Policy

Requests for reimbursement must be submitted by December 1, 2025 by 5:00 pm EST

All receipts need to be submitted at the same time. And any expense reimbursement request over $75 must be accompanied by a receipt.

Terms and Conditions: All flights up to the lowest available, most direct, coach class fare (standard economy). We do not intend to make anyone fly red-eye flights when flying from one coast to the opposite coast for a specific meeting or event. Up to the lowest available business class fare for international flights (arriving in a different country than that from which it departed) of more than five hours of actual flight time, including domestic connecting flights. Baggage fees include oversized or overweight bags if the oversized or overweight bags contain NVF equipment/supplies/materials.

Transportation to and from an airport

The cost of transportation to and from the point of origin of travel falls within the travel expense policy. We expect a reasonable expense, and it is the project's discretion whether to cover this portion.
